Subway of Dniepropetrovsk
The Métro of Dnipropetrovsk (in Дніпропетровськийметрополітенest Ukrainian) is a joint transport system of the Ukrainian city of Dnipropetrovsk. It is one of the European subways most recent since it was inaugurated in 1995. It transported in January 2001 14,9 million passengers.
History
The subway was inaugurated on December 29th 1995 between the stations Komunariwska (Комунарiвська) and Woksalna (Вокзальна); the line created comprises 6 stations. Dnipropetrovsk thus became the third town of Ukraine to have a subway after Kiev and Kharkov.
The network
The stations all are built on the same model, only decoration differentiates them. All the stations are located between 20 and 25 meters of depth. The oars circulate of 5:30 to 23:30 with a frequency ranging between 7 and 15 minutes, which would have in the future being carried at 5 minutes. The power supply is made by Conductor rail with the tension of 825 Volts specific to the Russian subways. The oars circulate on the way with the spacing broad Russian of 1524 Misters.
Works in progress and planned
New stations are envisaged in the future. The station Zentralna (Центральна) should be completed in 2007 carrying the length of the line Komunariwska-Zentralna to 11,8 km. The intermediate station Teatralna (Театральна) must be inaugurated 2 years later. The station is conceived to be used as station of correspondence with a second line which will be built in the short or the long term on the other side of the Dniepr.
