Subway of Cairo

The first line of the subway of the Cairo was dug with the beginning of the year 1980. It follows a North-South route along bank is the Nile (until Helwan in the south and El Marg in north) and connects between them two existing railway lines by an underground junction. It is thus more about a " RER" that of a subway (circulation on the left).

One second underground line was open in the middle of the years 1990.

A third line is in project and would follow a East-West axis.
