Suburbass is a producing artist of Electronic music and French.

History

Joel Drum a.k.a. SUBURBASS, singer and follower of the movement Punk at the end of the Seventies discovers the Electronic music with groups like Kraftwerk, Visage, Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream, Pink Floyd, Jean Michel Jarre or DJ Grandmaster Flash. It is at that time that it starts to test machines like the Korg MS-20.
With beginning of the year 80, the passion for this music known as electro like the New wave, Darkwave and Gothique (Alien Sex Fiend, Clan off Xymox, Cure, Joy Division, Virgin Prunes, Psychic TV, DAF) confirms its tendency to electronic bidouillage even if the heavy metal and Alternative rock'n'roll are also of its influences.
In the middle of the Eighties, it follows naturally EBM with Front 242, Skinny Puppy, Nitzer Ebb, Leather Strip, Dance Or Die…
Puis obligatory turn on Acid House but its first listening of the House music is very selective and only artists like M/A/R/R/S, Moby, Cybotron, Prodigy, Technotronic, Altern8, 4Hero make it react…
The Nineties arrive and the technoïde wave is confirmed… It oscillates on Minimal the acid techno, and chooses the German trance rather (Sven Vath) than Trance de Goa/Psytrance, affectionate the sound of the Techno de Detroit (Underground Resistance) and discovers a harder sound like that of Dave Clarke, Joey Beltram, Adam Beyer…
Joel Drum, at the time still singer in various groups (Metal hardcore, Ska, Blues rock'n'roll, Punk…) takes part in the first turnip left of which that of the Spiral Tribe definitively directing it towards a sound “Hardtek /tribe”.

1996, first liveset in versus with Alex K/Tekmics.
May 1997: first liveset in Teknival on the wall of “Sound Conspiracy” sound system with Simon aka Crystal Distortion/Network23 + Marc/4Q/Total Resistance + Kathy, Kaos, Ccile (Facom Links) + Mc Unwuttu… T on that of UFO/Heretik…
Aujourd'hui, active member of the movement Free party, it furrows Europe today accompanied by its faithful liveset and offers to each service a nostalgic diversity of its many sound experiments…
