Subterranean water tablecloth

A tablecloth of subterranean water is a water contained in the insterstices or the cracks of a rock of the basement which one names Aquifère. Only the interstitial water , i.e. able to circulate in the rock belongs to the tablecloth. This type of tank can be exploited and can supply the drinking water distribution networks, as it is the case in the majority of the common Frenchwomen. The relationship of the tablecloth with the aquifer is the same one as between the contents and its container.

Type of aquifer

The tablecloths can be contained in aquifers of the porous type (Sable S, Craie, gravel S, sandstone, scoriae, etc) or said fissured : water is contained and circulates in the Faille S, Fissure S or Diaclase S of the rock (Calcaire volcanic S, Granite S, castings etc) In karstic medium the rock can present conduits and caves in which water can circulate much more quickly than in the other types of aquifers.

Fossil tablecloth

It is a tablecloth which is not renewed any more, for a more or less long time (until several thousands of years). These tablecloths are exploited in the desert mediums. They are dedicated to an inevitable exhaustion. See fossil Water.

Nappe captivates

A captive tablecloth is a tablecloth generally deep and located between two impermeable layers. It is entirely saturated with water under pressure. It spouts out when one makes a Forage and it is what is called a Artesian well.

Monitoring of the tablecloths

In ends of control of water quality or monitoring of pollution, it can be necessary to take the water of the tablecloths. So that the taken samples are representative, water must come from the heart of the aquifer. One calls upon named wells then Piézomètre S made of a Crépine which goes down until the bottom from the tablecloth.
