Languages

In Linguistic, a substrate is a Langue which influences of it another whole while being supplanted by the latter. It is about the one of the three possible reports/ratios of linguistic Interférence (two others being the Superstrat and the Adstrat). For example, the Gaulois is a substrate of the French. Celtic tribes, the Gallic, lived in the current French-speaking territory before the arrival of the Romains. Being given cultural, economic prestige and policy which conveyed the Latin , the Gallic ones ended up giving up their language to adopt the Latin , which evolved/moved in this area to give the French. The Gallic speech disappeared but remains detectable in some French words (approximately ninety). Biology

Synonym of Support of culture in Horticulture: Materials allowing the fixing of the roots of a Plant.

In Biochemistry, a substrate is a Molécule used like starting product in a Chemical reaction catalyzed by a Enzyme. The substrates set in the active Site of the enzyme in a geometry which supports their reaction, transformation or degradation. The molecules released by the enzyme after reaction of the substrates are called the products.

Chemistry

In organic chemistry, the substrate in a reaction is the substance which reacts with organic material to form it (S) produced (S).

Substrate + Reactive (organics) --> Products

Electronics

For the manufacture of Semiconductor, (Integrated circuit, Transistor, Diode), a support of pure Silicium is used. Silicon is used in ultrafine Galette (or Wafer), on which they are engraved components.
