Submarine Travels

Submarine Travels and 20.000 Leagues Under the Sea were attractions of the parks Disneyland and Magic Kingdom on the topic of the underwater voyages. There exists always a version improved of attraction to the Tokyo DisneySea.

Vehicles

The submarines of attraction are not really submarines but rather boats where the passengers assoient themselves in the hold under the level of water. With the top of the space of the seats the tower of the kiosk is in which the " is installed; pilote". The effect of diving is produced by images of bubbles projected on screens and the cascade of the entry which reduces and scrambles the light in the caves of the building of well hidden spectacle.

Attractions

Disneyland

It is the version original of attraction. It opened only one year after the Nautilus nuclear submarine of the American fleet had crossed under the ices the north pole. It had as a subject the exploration of the oceans from where the subtitle of " Submarine Travels through Liquid Space" (" Travel underwater through space liquide").

Attraction contained a boat named Nautilus , and the Disney company was the first company to have a private fleet of submarines. Attraction closed in 1998 for reasons of overcost in maintenance, it should reopen on July 15th, 2005 under the name of Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage with as topic of the film Le Monde de Némo but the date was pushed back. The lagoon is thus preserved for a new use.

Vehicles

The skittles of these ships actually of the boats where the passengers are located are the water line were built in the holds of the Todd Shipyards with San Pedro in California. They were then brought by truck in the basin of Disneyland called Disneyland Naval Yard under the direction of the former Admiral Joseph Fowler. " under-marins" were conceived according to diagrams of Navire electric division of General Dynamics which produced the nuclear submarines of U.S. Navy.
