Subdivisions of Azerbaïdjan

This article treats subdivisions of the Azerbaïdjan .

Divisions

The Azerbaïdjan is divided into:
  • 59 districts (in Azeri: Raion in the singular, raionlar in the plural);
  • 11 cities ( şəhər in the singular);
  • 1 autonomous republic ( muxtar respublika ), the Nakhitchevan, which contains itself:
    • 7 districts;
    • 1 city.

All divisions listed below are raions , except contrary mention. The Azeri name of divisions is indicated between brackets if it differs from the usual French form. The raions of the autonomous republic of the Nakhitchevan are numbered and listed separately. Some raions are entirely or partly inside the car-proclaimed republic of the Haut-Karabagh and its indicated in green on the chart opposite.
