Sub-prefecture of Ogasawara

The sub-prefecture of Ogasawara (小笠原諸島) is a subdivision of the government of the Préfecture of Tōkyō to the Japan. Its territory is composed of a Archipel of more than thirty islands, located more than thousand kilometers at the south of Honshū. The islands are also known under the names of islands of Bonin or Volcans islands. One of the islands, Iwo Jima (硫黄島), played a historical part for American during the Second world war (a mythical photograph of marine raising the American flag was in particular taken there). Only the islands Fuss-jima (父島) and Haha-jima (母島) are populated.
