Sub-genus (biology)

In Systematic, the sub-genus is a Taxon which gathers artificially Espèce S presenting between them much similar characters and generally occupying of the surfaces of geographical distribution similar.

At the animal , the name of the families (or tribes) divided into kinds in sub-genera finishes in - ina (often written in the plural - ini ) instead of - has (often written in the plural - ae ) for the families (or tribes) only divided into kinds.

Exemples :

  • in the reign animal : the Procrustes ( Procrustes ) in the tribe of the Carabini  
  • in the reign végétal : (in search for examples)
