Suarce is a commune of the Territoire of Belfort belonging to the canton of Grandvillars. The village preserved a very rural character and its population, which was of 546 inhabitants in 1803, is not any more but of 379 in 1999.

Les traces of Suarce (in German Schwertz ) in the history is very old since the village is quoted in an act written on June 21st, 823 by Louis the Piles wire of specifying Charlemagne, amongst other things, the possessions of the abbey of Masevaux. In 1105 Henri de Suarce is quoted like witness at the time of the donation by Ermentrude of various goods equipping the priory with Froidefontaine. Family members of Suarce are on several occasions quoted in the old documents. In 1333 the stronghold follows the fate of the seigniory of Florimont and depends on the county of Ferrette.
The current church was rebuilt after the war in a modern style. It replaced the old church which was very old and which was unfortunately destroyed with the Libération; it is dedicated to Saint-Germain, bishop.
