Style fir tree

The Style fir tree applies to the decorative vocabulary lime-of-fonnier (Suisse) which reflect at the point the pupils of the School of art under the influence of Charles Eplattenier in the years 1900. This term summarizes with him only the inspiration which nourishes these young artists. Consequently, it was not any more question of resorting to the expensive “whiplash” with Victor Horta and Hector Guimard, but of seeking the movement in the poetic rate/rhythm of the Jurassic horizon strewn with fir trees and gentians. La Chaux-de-Fonds is a Swiss city (Canton of Neuchâtel, 38000 inhabitants) born from the clock industry at the XIXe century. This industry of prestige and precision made it possible to the tradesmen to traverse Europe and to impregnate modes and innovations flowering in the capitals. It is thus not astonishing that at the beginning of the XXe century there the Art nouveau finds a ground fertile.
