Sturmabteilung
The Sturmabteilung or SA (German word for “Section of attack”, but the word Sturm also means “storm” and “storm”) formed an organization Paramilitaire NSDAP (the Nazi party). They played a big role in the access to the capacity of Adolf Hitler in the Années 1930. SA are often called “brown shirts” because of the color of their Uniforme.
The term Sturmabteilung comes from the special troops of attack used by the Germany at the time of the offensive of March 1918. Substitute of great groups of armies, SA were organized as small teams of some soldiers. They made it possible to the Germans to push back the British and French troops several tens of Kilomètre S.
Hitler created SA with Munich in 1921 by bringing together war veterans, officers dissatisfied and members with the irregular forces, resulting generally from movements close to the socialist currents, nonMarxist, under the authority of Ernst Röhm. They acted as service of order at the time of the gatherings of the Nazi party, then took an increasingly large importance in the organization of the capacity. SA were in the beginning many acts of violence in the Années 1920, mainly at the time of street battles with socialist groups, and were prohibited.
The organization was again authorized in 1926 and played a growing part. After the takeover of Hitler in 1933, SA were regarded as the substitutes of the German regular army ( Reichswehr ), which was already obstructed by the Nazi party. Tensions appeared between the various leaders of the organization Nazi.
In order to stick the preserving forces of the German army and to reinforce its position within the party, Hitler ordered the execution of leaders SA. In the night from June 29th to 30th 1934 (known like the “Night of the Long Knives”), nearly one hundred people at least were assassinated, of which its chief Ernst Röhm. Viktor Lutze was placed at the head of SA and the organization was marginalized.
The official anthem of SA was the Horst-Wessel-Lied , which then became the anthem of the party.
