Studios Abbey Road

The studios Abbey Road are studios of recording English located at London, in the street éponyme and in which several famous groups has already recorded - The Beatles, Cliff Richard, Radiohead, Pink Floyd and Oasis.

They were created by EMI, in November 1931.

History

The building was formerly the office of the company of architecture Georgian in 1831. The Gramophone Compagny obtained a license to convert it into studio in 1931. The opening of the studio was filmed by the film company Pathé Brothers . The building close to the studio belonged to the same owner who made use of it like house for the musicians. EMI took finally possession of all the whole, which took the name of EMI Studios , for finally becoming Abbey Road Studios in 1970, taking into account the planetary success of the album of the same name published one year front by the Beatles.

The N°2 studio specialized in Musique Rock in 1958 when Cliff Richard recorded Move It , one of the individual first rock'n'roll in Europe.

The Beatles upset the traditions: they modified the ways of recording and renewed the style of the music usually produced in these studios. Year after year, between 1963 and 1969, Beatles used the studios Abbey Road to try out there all the possible musical ideas, helped in that by George Martin and an engineering team with their service which multplia inventions to allow them to go more and more far. The studios Abbey Road were true the house of Beatles, particularly starting from the end 1966, after they had ceased giving concerts. They recorded the majority of their songs there.

Pink Floyd recorded in Abbey Road its first album S (fine of the the Sixties) until the medium of the the Seventies. The Guitarist, David Gilmour, recently recorded there some Chanson S of its new album One year Island . Syd Barrett also recorded to him with the studio Abbey Road, The Madcap Laughs and Barrett .

The success of several great groups of music is due to the producing and the technicians of sound like: George Martin, Geoff Emerick, Norman Smith, Alan Parsons and several others.

Today

Elliott Smith recorded three songs for its album Figure 8 published in 2000.

Kanye West made a concert inside the studio. The album in the concert left in 2005. The small pocket is an imitation of the album Abbey Road of Beatles.

The group U2 was with the studios Abbey Road for the recording of the song The Saints Are Coming with the group Green Day after the Ouragan Katrina.

A program named Live From Abbey Road introduced artists in performance in studio like Corinne Bailey Rae until the group Iron Maiden.

The most famous American film musics are recorded with the studios of Abbey Road by London Symphony Orchestra (LSO). In particular musics of the type-setter John Williams: The 2 trilogies of Star Wars were thus recorded in the orchestral studio of Abbey Road. Other type-setters of film musics chose Abbey Road to record their works there, like Hans Zimmer (Gladiator) or Howard Shore (the lord of the rings)
