Studentski Trg

The Studentski Trg or Place of the Students , in Serb Cyrillic Sr СтудентскиТрг, is a place of the downtown area of Belgrade and a district of Belgrade, the capital of the Serbia. It is located in the municipality of Stari Grad.

Site

Studentski Trg is halfway located between the Place of the Republic (at the east) and the park-fortress of Kalemegdan (in the west). The district is centered around the place and of the Akademski park . To north, it extends until in the district from Dorćol, while the Pedestrian precinct of the Rue of the Prince Michel (Knez Mihailova) is located at the south.

Characteristics

Studentski Trg is located at the site of the Roman Forum of Singidunum, of which it preserves the rectangular form.

At the time modern, Studentski Trg was integrated into a project of places following one another along the old road leading of Kalemegdan to Slavija: Studentski Trg- Trg Republike - Terazije - Cvetni Trg - Slavija. Meanwhile, Studentski Trg and Terazije lost their function of place to become streets.

Studentski Trg is used of turntable (or terminus) for the line of Autobus 31 and for the lines of Trolleybus 19,21,22,22L, 28,29 and 41.

Studentski Trg accommodates many cultural and educational institutions (from where the names of Place of the Students or Park of the Academy).

One finds there:

the vice-chancellorship of the University of Belgrade (DRUNK);
the Faculty of Natural science and Mathematics (PMF) (which belongs to DRUNK);
the Faculty of Philosophy (left DRUNK);
the Faculty of Philology (left DRUNK);
the University Ilija Kolarac, with its concert hall;
the ethnographic Museum of Belgrade;
the bookstore " Plato" ;
a monument in the honor of the poet Njegoš.
