He is the younger brother of the pianist Claude Williamson.

Biography

Stu Williamson begins its career in Big band S like those of Stan Kenton (1951, then 1954-1955), Woody Hermann (1952-1953) and, more punctually, Billy May and Charlie Barnet.

From the middle of the Fifties, he is musician “free lance” in California. He works for the studios of Los Angeles. With regard to the jazz, it appears, either with the Valve trombone, or with the Trompette, in a multitude of recordings of Jazz West Coast. One can retain, inter alia, his multiple collaborations with the beater Shelly Manne.

Unfortunately, as from 1968, its addiction with drug and of the health issues make it disappear from the music scene. He dies in 1991.
