History
The name of the city comes from the name of a strong bench in 1794 by the general Anthony Wayne with the junction of the river St Joseph and the river St Marys (which form the Maumee river). The strong first at this place was built by Jean Baptiste Bissot, sior of Vincennes, in 1704.
