Strong Paul , born the 1872 with Rheims, 4 rue Caqué, dead the April 20th 1960 in its baptized property Argenlieu with Montlhéry, the Essonne, is a Poète French.
Jules Jean Paul Fort gave his first poems to the " Mercure de France " in 1896. They will constitute the beginning of the “ French Ballades ” in a continuous continuation until its death. It founded the " Theater of Art " who will become the " Theater of Work " , in 1905 the review " created; Towards and Prose " and contributed to give to the district of Montparnasse, in Paris, its artistic fame.
He is the author of an abundant poetic work interfered with symbolism, simplicity and lyricism, generally using the Verset. Paul Fort attended among the writers and the most known poets of his time: Paul Verlaine, Stephan Mallarmé, Pierre Louÿs or Andre Gide. Some of its poems were put in music and sung by Georges Brassens: “ the Small horse ”, “ the Navy ”, “ Like yesterday ”.
He wanted to offer a scene to Maurice Maeterlinck of which he admired the dramas. Thus in 1890, it created with Lugné-Poe " The Theater of Art" who revealed the Scandinavian playwrights Henrik Ibsen and August Strindberg.
Although born street Caqué, where his/her father was insurance agent, Paul Fort passed its infancy to the angle of the street of Vesle and the street of Nail-in-the-Iron. It returned officially to Rheims, in 1954, to inaugurate an exposure which was devoted to him to the Carnegie library.
Fact Commander of the Legion of honor, it had also been elected Prince of the Poets in 1912.
In 1956, he married Germaine Georgette Claire Pouget. Its Robert nephew married the girl of Alfred Vallette (1858-1935), director of the " Mercure de France " , and of Rachilde|Marguerite Eymery (1860-1953), woman of letters known under the name of Rachilde.
Paul Fort rests in Montlhéry in his property of Argenlieu.
There is a college Paul Fort in Courcouronnes (91), in Rheims, as well as a college Paul Fort at Is-sur-Tille, (Coast-In Or) and an elementary school with Cons it Grandville (Meurthe-et-Moselle).
