Stroke-play

The formula stroke-play , also called medal play , indicates a formula of the play of golf in which the course is achieved by taking into account all the played blows and also the blows of penalty, of the 1st hole until 18th. This formula of computation is generally used for all the competitions of the professionals except for the Ryder Cup, amateurs or professional. The goal is to carry out more the small number of blow. The scores are established in " par" to facilitate the comparisons between golfeurs. For example, a player who will carry out 3 blows with the top of the " " par" " will see its table of score to " +3". If is played it by one is with " 0". The player who carried out " 0" than I played better player who is with " +3". For competition over several days, it is enough to add all the scores. Thus if a player carried out " 0" , " +3" , " - 1" and " +2" " will on the whole have played; +4".

So participants are with equality after all the turns, then organizes a playoff to decide between them. The playoff is given in advance and can be carried out on a hole to a complete course. So players are still with equality at the conclusion of the playoff, the continuous play in the format of the " died subite" , in which the first to finish the hole gains the tournament. Among the 4 major tournaments of the Large Slam of golf, Masters with a playoff on a hole, US Open playoff on 18 holes, Open British, a playoff on 4 holes and the USPGA a playoff on 3 holes.
