Striped knitting
The knitting striped is a marine Serpent of New Caledonia. It is nourished at sea (predatory murenes and of Congre S) but lives most of the time on ground to digest, moult, reproduce or pondre. Snake with the mortal Venom (its bite is equivalent to ten times that of the royal cobra), it is not at all aggressive and remains very apprehensive. The children of New Caledonia are accustomed to playing avec. It is dangerous only when it feels disturbed or threatened. The bites are extremely rare. Two species cohabit:
- Laticauda colubrina , “common striped knitting”;
- Laticauda laticaudata , “blue striped knitting”.
