String quartet of Albéric Magnard
The string quartet as a semi minor COp 16 of Albéric Magnard was composed in 1902; the Quartet of Maurice Ravel date of the same year.
It is about the single quartet of the type-setter whose work for chamber music is limited to some parts. If the composition were difficult, as can testify the correspondence to the musician with Guy Ropartz, work is one of most important of Magnard, with its Symphony n° 4 and its sonata for violin and piano.
The first took place in 1904.
From one 40 minutes approximate duration, it comprises the four following movements:
- Sonata. Animated
- Serenade
- Funeral chant
- Dances
