String quartet n° 6 of Beethoven

The String quartet n° 6 in major B flat , opus 18 n° 6, of Ludwig van Beethoven, was composed between 1799 and 1800, was published in 1801 and was dedicated with the five others quartet S of the opus 18 to the prince Joseph Franz von Lobkowitz. It is chronologically the fifth of the first six quartets of Beethoven.

The pathetic Adagio of the Finale carries the title “Malinconia” . Vincent d' Indy underlined the influence of Friedrich Rust in this string quartet .

It comprises four movements and its execution lasts approximately 25 minutes:

  1. Allegro idiot brilliance
  2. Adagio, my nontroppo
  3. Scherzo. Allegro
  4. Adagio “Malinconia” - Allegretto quasi Allegro
