With baseball a striker is a player who tries to strike the ball with his beater. There are several objectives for a striker, more the current being to achieve the goals with a sure Coup, but also to achieve the goals with a goal-on-ball or while being touched by the ball. Sometimes it is even preferable to be withdrawn and not to achieve the goals, for example a deadened sacrefice which makes it possible the runners to advance with the next goal. It would be preferable to achieve the goals but the percentage of success is less low.
Types of strikers
Droitiers, left-handeds person and ambidexters
The majority of the launchers are Droitier S and statistically the left-handed strikers have a better average of stick against the droitiers. It is about the angle of entry of the ball vis-a-vis a launcher. An high percentage of the strikers are left-handeds person, even if they launch with the right hand. There are also many strikers droitiers because the majority of the strikers are naturally droitiers. There are even the strikers Ambidextre S. Because the striker droitier has more chance against a left-handed person, and the left-handed striker has more chance against the droitiers, the players who arrive there strike of the two with dimensions ones depending on the launcher. It is necessary to be relatively able of the two with dimensions ones, if not the player would have more striking success one of only one with dimensions.
The order of the strikers
Each team must obligatorily present a list of her 9 strikers before the beginning of the match. Each player plays a position: receiver, First goal, Second goal, Third goal, Stop-short and the acrobats of left, centers and right. The 9th position can be the launcher or the Frappeur indicated, according to the payment of the league. The first strikers (positions #1 and #2) are often the fastest runners, with a high number of stolen goals. The next strikers are most powerful, which strike with good a Moyenne with the stick while striking a high number of doubles and Coups of circuit. The last strikers are the weakest strikers and are rather selected for their defensive quality. In the National league of the major Ligue of baseball the 9th striker is often the launcher which often has a very weak average, lower than 0,200. Sandy Koufax which played all its career with the Dodgers of Los Angeles and was elected with the Temple of re-elected baseball had an average in career of 0,097 (75 sure blows in 776 appearances with the stick).
