Strider

is a Video game of action/platforms developed and published by Capcom on Borne of arcade in 1989. Its innovative Gameplay did of this play one of great successes of the Japanese editor, before Street Fighter II . The play was adapted on game consoles and Micro-ordinateur S.

History

In 2048, a Ninja named Strider Hiryu traverses the world with the research of mysterious Meio, which reigns on the Ground since its lunar base.

Gameplay

The player controls Hiryu, armed with his Falchion saber, through five levels going of the Soviet Union with the virgin forest. Hiryu with the characteristic to be able to cling to the walls thanks to a metal hook, and can be also made help of two robot-like animals (a Faucon and a leopard) called Options .

Exploitation

Versions

The Jeu of arcade was developed on the chart CPS-1. Conversions to Micro-ordinateur S were carried out by Tiertex, already author of the adaptation of Forgotten Worlds . The plays were published by US Gold in Europe and Capcom with the the United States. The version PC-Engine proposes two levels supplémentaires.

The play is also available in Strider 2 , left in 2000 on PlayStation.

Reception

The Jeu of arcade was very appreciated by the specialized media. In Commodore To use, the tester of this version concludes: “I just can' T see you being whitebait to resist its wonderful combination off high graphics definition, brilliant movements and good old-fashioned blasting action. All this, and has wee content bit tongue-in-cheek political off too: who could ask for anything more ? ”

The bearings on Personal computers also had good press, as in Tilt (18/20), for which “The Strider is a great conversion of arcade which deserves to appear among greatest successes of the year. ”. Only the version C64, qualified “shade pâlotte” by the magazine Zzap! 64 (42%), was badly appreciated. The play received the Tilt of gold Canal+ 1989 of “better conversion arcade” for the versions Amiga, Atari ST and Amstrad CPC.

Exit one year later, conversion to Megadrive is regarded as most faithful of all (and most difficult) by Tilt (18/20).
