Stressed

Stresa is a common of the Province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola in the Piedmont, area of the Plaine of Po in Italy. The city is an important tourist resort of banks of the Lake Maggiore, particularly famous for its luxury hotels. The Large Hotel of the Borromées islands is oldest of them (it was founded in 1861) and is famous to have lodged Ernest Hemingway. Stressed also owes its fame with the proximity of the islands Borromées.

Geography

Located on the edges of the Lake Maggiore at 200 meters of altitude, just opposite the islands Borromées, the city profits from a particularly soft climate. Access by the road which makes the turn of the lake and since the Suisse since Locarno, or since the Simplon and Domodossola (42 km) by the trunk road S33 or a26 highway (left N°2) which leads to Milan.

Economy

Its situation and its made particular climate of this city, medieval origin, an important tourist city, beginning of Primtemps at the end of the Fall. its hills are decorated the splendid ones and richissimes residences, hotels of great luxury border banks of the lake. But it is especially the principal starting point of the bâteaux-shuttles which lead to the islands and with the main cities which border the lake.

In addition to the walk at the edge of the lake, the rise at the top of the mount Mottarono offers a exeptionnelle overall picture on 360° the lakes and the Alps.

  • Mottarone is a panoramic locality located, to 1491 m, the top of the mount of the same name which dominates the Lake Orta and the Lake Maggiore (access by a crémlaillières train since Stresa). The site offers a panorama to cut the breath which extends on 360° from the ligure Apennines in the Swiss Alps, while passing by the plain of Po, the seven lakes, the Mount-Viso and the majestic solid mass of the Mount-Rose.
Moreover, the site offers a range of tracks supplements, ideal for all the levels of ski.
