Streets off SimCity

Streets off SimCity is a video game published in 1997 by Maxis. The innovation of this play lies mainly in the fact that the player could move in car in the Villes created in SimCity 2000 . The play is in 3D what differs compared to the other plays Maxis from the time. It is one of the rare plays of the series Sim on which Will Wright did not work. In spite of characteristics like the possibility of charging with the cities since SimCity 2000 and an excellent soundtrack, the play was rather known for its bugs such as unexpected crash landings, problems with vehicles blocked in the buildings, of the pedestrians going behind and the possibility of rolling through the trees.

The play is known to be the Black sheep of the series Sim because it does not simulate in any way control with precision. Indeed, it is focused more on the goal to destroy the enemy cars, to gain races, to flee the police force and to reverse cows. The play can be controlled with a keyboard, a joystick or a Joystick. The play was mainly popular among the players of SimCity 2000 which, like SimCopter , made it possible to the players to explore the towns of SimCity 2000 create by oneself or by other people. Streets off SimCity also proposes a mode in network in which to seven players can defy itself.

Objectives

The play offers various modes of play:

the " mode; libre" ( free roaming mode), in which the player can roll through the cities created in SimCity 2000 or in around fifties of cities already included in the play. In this mode, there are four levels of difficulties: Sunday Driver, Dab To hate Day, Commuter' S Revenge, and Crush Hour, the first not having any enemy with share police officers and the last being a nightmare.
the mode career ( career mode), in which the player takes share in one of the four television programs, with missions presented like episodes. The player can choose among four various episodes, each one with a unit of under-episodes whose difficulty is increasing. In the mission " Zippy' S Courier Service" , the player takes the role of a deliveryman having to carry out a certain number of deliveries in an assigned time, it must get rid of corrupted police officers and then discover a plot to be stopped in the mission " Galahad' S Watch" , it must thwart a plan of invasion alien in the mission " Granny' S Wild Ride" , to gain races to receive enough money to pay the treatment of an ill child in the mission " Race for Your Life".

Music

The player can choose among a great number of different styles of music suggested by the play by using a radio while leading. The radio stations go from the Jazz, with the Techno while passing by the music Country and the Rock. The garage has a music made up exclusively of sounds of tools and machines what gives a single style. Some regard the music as one of the best characteristics of the play, compared with its bad Gameplay . Moreover, certain pieces were included in the popular play The Sims .

Weapons

The player can buy 5 types different of weapons for his car. The number of weapons with which the car can be equipped depends on the type of car that player A. the Van can equip some more.

The light machine gun and the Lance-roquettes are the two offensive weapons of the play and are placed in front of the car.

The mines, smoke screen and oil tablecloths are the defensive weapons and are placed at the rear of the car. The number of mines which can be placed at the same time depends on the number of mines with which the car is equipped. The oil tablecloths are useless against the studded tires as they permanently maintain adherence on the road.

Wheels

There exist various types of tires, each one with their own levels of adherence, durability and price. The standard tires are provided by defect and cost less money but are not advised outside the roads. The cross-country tires behave better outside the road but do not allow to turn also easily on road. The tires of race are practically unusable outside the road but make it possible to carry out steep turns on road. However, they wear quickly under strong constraints. The studded tires have a special advantage with them, the player can roll on oil tablecloths without losing the control of the vehicle.

Modifications

There is some mods available for this play, but easiest to find are the skin packs which give to the player more choice in the cars of the play. However, the majority are based on the original design of the cars. Some examples are the DeLorean of Retour towards the future, an ambulance, a truck of fireman, and new racing racing cars.
