Streaked Géopélie
The Géopélie streaked or Colombine streaked ( Geopelia striata ) is a Columbidé of a score of centimetres.
Description
Géopélie streaked is a small turtle-dove. Its head is gray pale blue. The top of the body is gray brown clear. All the feathers of the neck to overcaudal are marked of a thin black apical line which gives the striated aspect characteristic of this species. The throat is blue pale. This coloring passes to the vinous pink on the chest and the belly which are barred of black. The tail brown gray is long. The end of the external rectrices are white. The rémiges are russet-red. The nozzle is gray blue, the pink eyes and eyelids pale blue and legs.Its song consists of soft and monotonous roulades, pressed on the first syllable and emitted with short intervals, sometimes during a long moment.
Distribution
This species is originating in Australia and the islands indo-faintnesses. It was introduced at the XVIIe century in Chagos, Providence, Rodrigues and Maurice coming from the islands of the Probe and of Malaysia. It also populates the Réunion, where it is called turtle-dove country .
