Generally a straw is a tube light, generally made in plastic, of which one is used for oneself for aspiring, and to drink, a Liquide which one cannot, or which one does not want to carry directly to the Bouche.

It is generally appeared as a Cylindre, right or sometimes bent with a Charnière in Accordéon. There exist also more whimsical forms, with Courbe S and loops.

Operation

Vacuum and opened at its two ends, the straw is filled of Air. If it soaks in a liquid, the aspiration at the other end attracts initially all the air which is there, before aspiring the liquid itself. This is why the Diamètre of a straw must be sufficiently small so that the Poumon S of the user can store the air which is there during some seconds during which he drinks the liquid.

Frequent use

The straw is largely used in the Fast-food industry, where the portions of the drinks are generally very large and where the glasses are made of a material fragile and easy to break. The use of the straw thus facilitates the absorption of drink by avoiding the damage.

Certain customers ask also for a straw in some Restaurant S even if the Vaisselle is reusable, because they doubt the effectiveness of the Lavage of this one and prefer drinking the liquid without touching with the container. A similar idea encourages several people to drink with the straw when it is about a quill.

Miniature straws are also provided in the Emballage of the bricks (boxes) individual of Fruit juice.

Other uses

The straw can also be used to expire of the air. Some make use of it like Sarbacane, with an aim of projecting small Projectile S (often, pieces of Papier) which they insert at the end of the straw. The Pression of the air blown by the person expels the object.

In addition, to blow in a straw instead of aspiring can make it possible to create Bulle S in a liquid, because they lead the directly expired air to the bottom. This one being less dense than the liquid, it goes up towards surface, creating the phenomenon of the Bulle S.

History
