Stratellite

Stratellite is the trade name of the system suggested by the American company Sanswire Networks composed of Aérostat S which will be held with high-altitude, on the level of the Stratosphère in order to provide for the needs for the emissions for the cellphones. This in replacement or complement of the current network of satellites and pylons.

The prototype was built in 2005 and in-flight tests began in 2006;

Details

The Airship S as Stratellite will be held in the air lower than a satellite, but higher than the “Jet-Stream”, the fast stratospheric wind. These airships will be posted higher than the weather zones of phenomena, approximately 20 kilometers (13 semi.) above the ground. Only one airship could pass the emissions of broadcasting, the radio and digital terrestrial television on a great area. The airship would have less waiting (up to 2.000 times of less) that a satellite. It would be about a balloon, kind Airship which would be maintained in a fixed position thanks to electrical motors supplied with the solar energy. The position will be determined by system GPS and will be controlled since a center of operations on the ground. All the operations will be operated by remote control since the ground, it will not have there operators aboard airship.

Only one Stratellite could cover a surface equal to that of the France or Texas (about 780,000 km ²).
