Strategy of the corner

The Strategy of the Corner (Wedge Strategy), is a social action plan written in 1998 by Phillip E. Johnson with the support by the Discovery Institute for the USA with for goal to promote theses creationnists (anti-darwiniennes and/or anti-evolutionist) and to replace science materialist with a science in stronger resonance with the Christian faith. The principal goal of this document was " to affirm the reality of the existence of Dieu." , and at the end of five years of " to renew the American culture by forming the government policy in such way so that it reflects the values Christian woman conservatrices"

The document

" The Wedge Document " described a strategy which is supposed to influence the public opinion, the media, the caritative foundations, and governmental authorities. For much of critics this document reveals the political and ideological nature of Discovery Institute.

The document in the short and long term describes several stages with objectives for the movement of the Intelligent design. These objectives are described as of the first paragraphs:

  • " To fight the scientific materialism and its moral heritage, cultural, and its political consequences
  • " To replace the materialists explanations by the concept Théiste that nature and the man are the creation of God.

The three phases of the “Strategy” are:

  • Phase I: Scientific research, Writing & Publicity ,

  • Phase II: Publicity & Formation of Opinions , and
  • Phase III: Cultural confrontation & Revival .
