Strangers In Paradise

Strangers in Paradise (sometimes shortened in SiP ) is a series of American Cartoon creates, written and drawn by Terry Moore. This series in black and white places its action in a modern and real universe. The series was published of 1993 to 2007. It is defined as a " soap comics" and thus takes the party to see evolving/moving its characters (sometimes in unexpected directions) progressively of regular episodes.

SiP occupies a particular place in the Comic S because it is one of rare which knew to find many people female and which do not put in scene Super-héros.

Strangers in Paradise gained the price Will Eisner of the best history published in the form of serial (Best Serialized Story) in 1996.

Synopsis

The series tells mainly the complex relations between three people: Francine Peters, Katina Choovanski (Katchoo) and their friend David Qin. Francine Peters is a brown young girl with tendency compulsive eater and lost a little in its relations with the men, Katchoo is an impulsive and sometimes violent artist who hesitates perpetually between his love for Francine and the love that David carries to him. The title is supported perfectly by strong supporting characters (Freddie Femur, the perfect symbol of the loser macho; Casey, the bimbo attaching, but surface; Tambi, the tueuse cold one which has good heart…) on the one hand; and by a history complexes in addition, mixing stories of Maffia, stories of heart and comedy. Strangers in Paradise does not hesitate to approach topics like the murder, the rape, homosexuality, without to fall into the stereotypes.

The stories oscillate between episodes in extreme cases of burlesque, violent stories which reconsider the turbid past of the characters and finally of the moments of emotion. One of the successes of the cartoon is to make a success of a good balance between these three environments (sometimes by mixing them) which make the attaching stories alive and characters.
