Strait of the Geographer

The strait of the Geographer is a Détroit of the Mer of Tasman, in the Pacific Ocean. It separates the island Schouten from the Péninsule Freycinet, a Péninsule of the principal island of Tasmanie, in Australia. It was named during the forwarding towards the southern Lands taken along by Nicolas Baudin at the beginning of the 19th century in the honor of the Géographe , the Corvette which it ordered.
