Strait of Hudson
The strait of Hudson or strait of Hudson is a Détroit Canada connecting on 700 km the Hudson Bay to the Atlantic Ocean, in a west-east direction. It is bordered in north by the Île of Baffin and in the south by the Québécois Péninsule of Ungava, and by the Région of Labrador. The Eastern entry of the strait is located between Cape Chidley and Resolution Island. Its width varies between 120 and 200 km.
The strait of Hudson was discovered in 1517 by the Venetian explorer Sebastian Cabot (1472-1587). It owes its current name to the English navigator Henry Hudson, which managed to cross this passage and to draw up a summary chart in of it 1610.
