Blanchet is the name of one of the most famous families of Facteurs of active harpsichords to Paris at the end of the 17th century and with 18th. It were made a speciality of the transformation ( rough-casting ) of the Flemish harpsichords of the Rückers and carried at the most point of perfection the Parisian invoice.
The first member who acquired notoriety was Nicolas, native of Rheims in 1660, which settled in Paris where it founded a prosperous workshop specialized in the invoice of the harpsichords and virginal S.
He joined one of his sons, François-Etienne (Paris, 1695 - 1761), who was most famous representing of the family.
The son of this last, also named François-Etienne (about 1730 - 1766), continued the family business. He had like apprentice Pascal-Joseph Taskin. After the death of its owner, this last married his widow.
A sister of François-Etienne II married Armand-Louis Couperin.
