Storm of the desert
Tempête of the desert ( Serves Storm in English) is the name given by the Department of Defense of the United States to the military operation carried out against the Iraq in 1991.
This operation put an end to the occupation Kuwait by Iraq. It constitutes the most violent phase of the second war of the Gulf.
The terrestrial operation, which lasted 100 hours, was named Desert Sabr ( Saber of the desert ).
The neutralization of the Iraqi Republican guard, made up of the most dangerous units of armoured tanks for the international coalition, was an strategic objective. This formation was held inside the Iraqi territory.
