Stopping of Bort-the-Organ

Geography

The Barrage of Bort-the-Organ is located in France on the communes of Bort-the-Organ (Corrèze) and of Lanobre (Cantal), in the Massif Central. The stopping retains water of the the Dordogne. Exploited by EDF, it is placed under the control of DRIRE the Limousin.

History

Built 1942 with 1952, it has a 120 meters height and has a 18 km long reserve allowing of many nautical activities.

The stopping of Bort-the-Organ is greatest French reserve for a concrete dam.

Machine

The hydro-electric factory has three turbines of the type Francis

Total power installed 240  MW
