Stop of the system

The stop of a Computing system can be voluntary or involuntary:

  • the voluntary stops can correspond to a need for Maintenance, to engineering problems requiring the Redémarrage, or quite simply (and more usually) not to leave the machine lit permanently.
  • the involuntary stops can be had with a power cut, a takeover of the machine by a Hacker or a Hacker, a material Défaillance or a Virus.

There exist two means of extinguishing a machine:

  • software Layer: it is the Operating system which will order the stop of the system. Each operating system has its protocol of stop. For example, a PC equipped with Windows can be extinct while clicking on Démarrer > Arrêter > Arrêter the computer. Under Mac OS, or Linux, the order will be somewhat different.
  • material Layer: manual cut of the system via the button ON/OFF.

Virus

Under Windows, viruses causing the instability of the core can reveal a message of Arrêt initiated of the system. At the end of assigned time (a few tens of seconds), the contaminated machine dies out.
