Stop golfech

Stop Golfech is an association Antinucléaire for the stop of the Nuclear plant of Golfech, Co-founder of the Réseau To leave the Nuclear power in 1997. Stop-Golfech, it is also the name of the newspaper diffused by this association. Stop-Golfech was creates in April 1989, on the bases of the coordination of the various local antinuclear groups (Golfech, Toulouse, Montauban, Valence-in Agen,…)

Militants of Stop-Golfech occupied during 5 days the nuclear plant of Golfech to be opposed to its startup. On Saturday, April 10, 1989, 5 members of the collective peace and association Vivre without the nuclear danger of Golfech have succeeds in misleading the vigils and climbed the scale which ends in the top of cooling a Tower of the power station. The State refusing to yield to their claims (televised debate, referendum, stop of Golfech and Super-Phenix), a grêve of the hunger will be started top of the tower, but the militants will give up at the end of five days for lack of water. The police force intervenes to put a term at the operation. Justice does not judge convenient to continue the militants. Antoine Waechter benefitted from the moment for launching l'" Call of Golfech" who asked for the freezing of the French energy policy.

March 4th, 1990, approximately 2 to 3000 people gathered in front of the grids of the power station to the call of the organization Stop Golfech. Large a " Stop" was written with a human chain.

April 28th, 1991, a gathering from 3 to 400 people is organized to 20 km of the power station. With this occasion east creates the newspaper " Stop-Golfech".

May 8th, 1995, a new occupation of a tower of cooling by 3 members is followed of a setting in examination by the Court of Bankruptcy of Montauban to have " penetrated without authorization on a ground classified défense" (classified without continuation for incompetence of Montalbanaise justice), then for " violation of domicile". The lawsuit, which takes place on January 26th, 1998, is followed of an appeal on October 22nd, during which the defendants make the promotion of the antinuclear fight in the city. The court confirms the first judgment: 10.000 francs of fine for each defendant, the refunding of the court fees and frank a symbolic system of moral wrong for EDF.
