A diagram ombrothermic is a graph used in Climatologie. It indicates on the same graph the Précipitation S and the Température S averages per month over one year. The scale of the temperatures is generally indicated on the left. It is generally half of the scale of precipitations, indicated on the right.
The temperatures are indicated by a red line, whereas precipitations are represented by blue columns.
Wet periods and dry periods
At the time of the months when the curve of precipitations exceeds that of the temperature, one speaks about wet month. When the temperature curve is higher than that of precipitations, time is dry.
-
2 X T (in °C) > dry Préc =>
- 2 X T (in °C) < wet Préc =>
Example
This is a diagram representing the climate of the town of Sikasso to the Mali. It shows us that it made wet there between the month of May and October and that the thermal amplitude is low, the temperatures remaining around the 25°C.
