Stocks

Stocks is a group of French Rock.

Christophe Marquilly (guitar, song), born on March 25th, 1955, founds the Stocks group with the beginning of the year 1980.

Beginnings

The group is then supplemented by Gerard Mullier, said Muchmard (low) and Franck Seinave (battery). Being pointed out in the north of France by energetic concerts, in MJC, in the open air on the podiums of famous the Annual stock sale of Lille or of the Enduro of Touquet, or in first part of Thin Lizzy, a national label, WEA, proposes with the group to record a disc in public. It was done with Lille, with the Holy Sport hall Saver, on February 12th, 1982 in front of 3500 people. The disc leaves, follow themselves from there grinds concerts in all France, and a certain notoriety grace in particular to the piece Suzy which is played always today in recall in the concerts and with its front assassin and the adaptation - dared - Cocaïne of J.J. Fix French. ZZ Top is then the principal reference of the group, in energy as in the formation " power trio". The guitars triturated which traverse the second face of the album, on " Stick Younger" or " Caracas" take as a starting point this spirit. As much, Christophe is faithful to his Stratocaster. A side more bluesy shows through, on still played ballades, like " Stetson blues". The texts are not very worked, the reference, it is clearly bar/girls. This album remains for a whole generation a reference.

Then

In 1984, after a change of recording company (CBS) and line-up (Arnaud Delbarre, Low, wire of Raoul de Godewarsvelde; Bobby Luccini, battery), the group leaves Eclats Rock'n'roll , produced by Benoit Blue Boy, which Miss of the old pieces (the bar, the independent one…) and of the titles as it does not see me which will be largely diffused and will be the subject of a clip. This second album shows a will to be essential near more many people, and to leave somewhat the connotation Hard-rock or Rock Southerner which follows the group. Two rounds in the United States of about thirty dates each one mark this period. A video recorded in Boston keeps the memory of this round, with a heat environment in front of the kids. The press rock'n'roll of the time ( Hell magazine , Hard rock magazine ) but also more the general practitioner Best (magazine) or Rock'n'roll & Folk are made the echo of this round, like that more regional (the Voice of North). Also let us note that Stocks was also supported by the local radios (Northern Fréquence, Radio campus Lille…), and FR3 LILLE, connected rock'n'roll in the Eighties.

The group leaves in 1986 a 45 turns (So much seul/On does not form part of the same band), prelude to a future album which will not arrive. This 45 turns is produced by Nono, guitarist of Trust and is recorded in London. It opens for Rory Gallagher in Lille.

The years 1990-2000

Christophe Marquilly, wearied little of echo, and feeling the wind to turn as regards Rock'n'roll to France, with the opening of groups like Indo-China, decides to stop. The Stocks adventure will continue nevertheless at the end of the Eighties (festival of the coast of opal, first part of Molly Hatchet in 1990 in Paris) and with beginning of the year 90 with other musicians and the addition of keyboard, sax… the fans of the beginning follow more or less, occupied that they are undoubtedly with occupations minus rock'n'roll N roll, pouponner and to cherish their wives.

In 1996, Christophe leaves an own-produced album under the name of MARQUY, with effective rock'n'rolls like revealing the " it is not facile" and of the moments alleviated like superb the " Allan". From this time MARQUY, there does not remain large thing, the opening towards Belgium remaining without great following days in spite of the pleasure of playing.

In 1997, STOCKS opens with the Zenith of Lille for Trust, reformed. Arnaud Delbarre, director of this same room, takes again his low for a piece: that makes me very funny .

In 2000, the second formation is found for a homage to Ronny Coutteure, disappeared tragically not very front, with the Farm of the Swallows of Remnants, which it had created with his Diane wife.

In 2001, they give a concert inspired to Splendid of Lille, and work on an album left in 2002: Three . This album contains some pearls rock'n'rolls as J did not await you , was necessary that I tell you , or you run the old man bikers given to the last style, of the blues my grater, my guitar , or of the more moderate moments like Fiora . In spite of its good production and its general quality, this album will not have discounted success.

Noticed by the production at the time of a concert in Paris, they will open for 28 dates of the round of the stages of the national idol Johnny Hallyday, in June and July 2003. July 5th, STOCKS will play “house” with the Northern Stadium of Villeneuve d' Ascq…

The recognition hoped after this round turns short. Arnaud Delbarre, become director of the Olympia (Paris), leaves the group définivement and is replaced by Sam Wilcox. The former fans are discovered or find themselves in particular thanks to Internet site of essential Bruno of PLANCHON " BdP". STOCKS celebrates in 2004 its 20 years at the time of a concert with full with guests: Franck, first beater, NONO, emblematic guitarist of Trust and friend of the group, Daran, and Gildas Arzel, whose Christophe appreciates the artistic course.

Christophe Marquilly, while continuing to turn with STOCKS, undertakes other projects. A group of recoveries blues rock'n'roll: OUTSLIDERS (Luc Dewerte, low; Marc Vedrine, battery) which leaves an album: Thank you and gave since 2003 of tens of concerts, in pubs, in front of a handle the irreducible ones or on large scenes in opening of Nine Below Zero in Lyon, for example. Outsliders plays obviously of the covers of ZZ Top, but also of Johnny Winter, or of Stevie Ray Vaughan, or the famous Dust my broom. He also works on more acoustic compositions, than he tests in concert (dreams of Ireland; In the West); The concerts of the Festival of the Music of June 2006 were the occasion to introduce the two new musicians of the formula " Christophe MARQUILLY solo" : Fabrice DEBELS with low and the choruses and Thomas GONZALLES with the battery and the choruses. The news compos uses all the possibilities of this formula on pieces like " regarde" with moments which remain energetic, like superb the " message" , or the resumption of " Sniper" album MARQUY.

Thomas GONZALLES has officially Marc Védrine with the battery in OUTSLIDERS at the summer 2006. Since the re-entry, at the time of too rare concerts with formula MARQUILLY SOLO, of new titles (cities in deferment, winds of hatred, so that you return, winds of west…) confirmed a more acoustic orientation, with searchs for melodies and a particular work on the lyrics.

Not about it remains, OUTSLIDERS records an album in public on February 3rd, left in June and precisely entitled: powered by blues; March 30th, 2007, great festival around STOCKS with Tourcoing: on this occasion, Christophe MARQUILLY thus has " liquidated STOCKS" to fly away towards new musical adventures under its name. A DVD was recorded on this occasion to LARGE the MIX of Tourcoing and will leave at the same time as the next album which has just been recorded at the end of August at the beginning of September 2007 with the studio Feeling de Tourcoing; this one will leave at the beginning of 2008.
