Steyr TMP
The Steyr TMP is a Pistolet-mitrailleur Autrichien confined in 9mm Parabellum and produced of small number of 1992 to 2001.
Characteristics
Very compact and deprived of stick of shoulder, it calls massively upon the Polymère S in its construction what enables him to post a reduced weight. With a dimension and a weight despite everything slightly higher than those of a conventional gun, it is equipped with a frontal vertical handle which definitively distinguishes it from a gun rafalor and which makes it more controllable. It also has a selective relaxation and draws cylinder head closed with delayed-action from the action.
Design
It was initially pursuant to the concept of PDW (Personal Defense Weapon), namely as arms with defense for troops not fighting such as the officers, artillerists, personnel of the train… Contrary to weapons such as the P90 and to a lesser extent the MP7 which are located at the border between Pistolet-mitrailleur and Fusil of attack, it positions rather at the border between Pistolet and Pistolet-mitrailleur. Its general characteristics correspond to those of existing weapons like MP5K, the Ingram MAC which posted the same ambitions during its creation or the Micro Uzi but Steyr TMP is definitely lighter. It takes again the architecture of Ingram MAC and the Uzi Microphone with the charger in the handle which makes it possible to gain in length, but borrows from the MP5K the second frontal handle, the moderate rate of shooting and the complete absence of stick of shoulder. Its weight, its dimensions and its price remain close to that of a conventional gun in order not to encumber the personnel for which it is intended. Because of the quality of its ergonomics and its mechanism with delayed action and which draws closed cylinder head, the TMP is famous easily controllable being for a weapon of this category. It can receive a Silencieux and various accessories such as a strap, a sight tube, a laser designator or tactical lamp
Use
It is conceived for an instinctive shooting to replace the semi-automatic guns which offer very weak performances to the combat in the absence of an intensive drive. To serve this objective, the ergonomics of the weapon was in particular conceived for a simple use. It is equipped with a progressive relaxation which makes it possible to draw step by step by pressing the relaxation with half and in gust when it is entirely in a hurry. This system is doubled by an order making it possible to decontaminate the semi-automatic shooting . Its reduced weight, the absence of stick and its profile without asperity allows moreover implementation a fast but reserve it for engagements with short range, namely approximately 25 meters.Steyr TMP did not find the market for which it had been conceived and little of specimens were produced between 1992 and 2001.
Derived versions
A civil version deprived of frontal handle and not drawing that into semi-automatic was marketed under the name of Steyr SPP .In 2003, the Swiss company Brugger & Thomet repurchased the patents, the license of manufacture and the tools of the TMP. Its engineers improved it appreciably, adding to it mainly a folding stick laterally and a rail picatinny on the top of the weapon. Marketed in 2005 B&T MP 9 is sold like TP9SF with the the United States not to be confused with Ruger MP9.
The market aimed by this evolution of the TMP is that of the units of intervention for which B&T MP9 can put forward a greater versatility. Ainis, the practical range with the stick of shoulder is doubled, the accessories can be gone up quickly on the standard rail and the weapon remains enough light to be also drawn with a semi-automatic hand in what appears very useful during the use of a tactical shield.
