Steyr GB
The Steyr GB is a semi-automatic Pistolet Austrian Double action which was developed following the decision of the Austrian army to replace the Walther P38 and the Browning GP35 of which it was still equipped at the beginning with the Années 1970. The design of the steyr GB was completed in 1974 under the designation of PI-18 drawing in gust but in production only in 1981 was put.
It lost the contest to equip the Austrian army with the favor with the Glock and that of the American army which was gained by the Beretta 92.
It nevertheless was sold with various units of police force and special operations and also on the civil market. The production ceased in 1988 after a production from 15.000 to 20.000 units.
Use
Steyr GB is a weapon of important size, which is not a criterion discriminating for the military applications. The movement of the cylinder head animated by the retreat is slowed down by gases of the shooting. The braking of the cylinder head and a mechanism in which the gun is perfectly fixed contributes so that the feeling of retreat is particularly weak and the precise weapon.
