Biography
Steven Wilson learned the music as an autodidact, and his attraction for the 5th art appeared towards the 8 years age. Its childhood was rocked by the musical culture his/her parents, followers of progressive Musique which he listened to in loop.
Child, his parents wanted to make him learn the Guitare but he did not appreciate. At 11 years, it found a traditional Guitare, out of nylon, and the anecdote wants that with this instrument it tried out new sounds by rubbing a microphone through the cords, which produced a primitive form of recording multi-track which went from a tape recorder to another. It was then fascinated by all the possibilities of creation and play with the sounds.
Between 1984 and 1986, Steven Wilson recorded with the groups Altamont and Karma, and thanks to the success of Porcupine Tree, some of these compositions remade surface.
During its experiment with these groups, its style musical is directed towards the progressive rock'n'roll, the psychedelic the avant-gardism. Then the birth comes from Porcupine Tree and No-Man which will open the doors of success to him.
Steven Wilson has also his own label, Headphone Dust, in order to promote its solos projects.
