Steven Bochco

Steven Bochco is a scenario writer and American producer of televised series . It took part in the creation of Hill Street Blues , the Law of Los Angeles and New York Police Blues .

Biography

Steven Ronald Bochco was born the December 16th 1943 with New York from a father painter and a mother violonist. He off attends High School Music and Art of Manhattan before studying the scenario and the theater with the Carnegie Institute off Technology of Pittsburgh. He obtains a BFA theater in 1966.

He starts to work for Universal Studios as an author on the iron Man , Columbo , McMillan and Wife but also on series less popular like Griff , Delvecchio and the invisible Man . He is also the scenario writer of the telefilm The Counterfeit Killer in 1968 and takes part in the scenario of Silent Running (1972) and of Double Indemnity (1973). He leaves Universal left in 1978 to join MTM Enterprises as a producer.

Bochco is success in 1981 with the detective series Hill Street Blues for NBC of which he is Co-creator, scenario writer and producer. The series is diffused of 1981 to 1987. Following the failure of Bay City Blues in 1985, Bochco is constrained to leave MTM.

In 1986, Bochco creates for NBC the series the Law of Los Angeles (1986-1994). In 1987, ABC finance the creation of the production company of Bochco which will produce the comedy Doctor Doogie (1989-1993) and the police musical comedy COP Rock'n'roll . Bochco joins again with success thanks to New York Police Blues (1993). It produces then series with success more mitigated: Murder One (1995-1997), Total Security (1997), Brooklyn South (1997) and City off Angels (2000).

Steven Bochco was married in Barbara Bosson of 1969 to 1998.
