Auterive (occitan: Auta-riba ) is a common French, located in the department of the Haute-Garonne and the area the Midday-Pyrenees.

Its inhabitants is called Auterivains.

Geography

Auterive is located on old the Trunk road 622 at 30 km at the south of Toulouse and 19 km Is of Muret on the Ariège in an alluvial plain of 4 km width which separates these slopes from those of the Volvestre.

Proximity of Toulouse which is not that to 35 km attracted activities and residents. This Agglomération is very well served by the transportation routes: Railroad and RN 20 where all the traffic connecting Toulouse to the the Pyrenees circulates, therefore with the Andorre and the Spain. The city is also crossed by a road way connecting the valleys of the the Garonne and Ariège to that making it possible to join Toulouse to the the Mediterranean.

History

The presence of a River as well as valley giboyeuse and easy to traverse very early attracted the prehistoric man. On the site of Auterive, one found tools of the Neolithic time. age of iron, remained to us burial S of the field type of ballot boxes.

Economy

The local economy rests on the Agriculture which developed on the fertile grounds of the plain that Lauragais. The other branches of industry are however quite present there: trade; Craft industry, services and especially industrial activities. The zone of activities installed along RN 20 does not cease increasing and new individual constructions make move back the limits of the city in all the directions.

The various rich person community life and installations (stages, Swimming pool discovered, Camp-site, Cinema, Theater, etc), offer a broad choice of sports activities, leisures or cultural. Very pleasant courses for walkers or sportsmen were arranged in edge of Ariège.

Places and monuments

The Saint-Paul district, located on Right Bank of Ariège, is that of the old city.

The Saint Paul church with the Bell-tower wall, has a bell of the 15th century, one can appreciate there his murals, its organ, its high altar, its angels admirers, its support of communion, the bust and the statue of Paul saint. Its Retable is in Noyer 1607. The grids of communion are in Wrought iron are XVIIIe century.
