Steve Paikin

Steve Paikin (born in 1960) is a journalist, producer and Canadian writer . It is especially known as an organizer of the emissions of topicality Studio 2 and Diplomatic Immunity on TVOntario.

Born with Hamilton (Ontario), it obtains with a baccalaureat of the Université of Toronto and a Maîtrise in Téléjournalisme of the Université of Boston. He works initially as an advertiser of news and correspondent with Queen' S Park for CBC of Toronto (CBLT); he also animates an emission of topicality on CBC Newsworld and works as a journalist in several private media, of which the Hamilton Spectator and radio station CHFI of Toronto.

In 1992] Paikin starts to work in TVOntario. It animates the political series Between the Lines and the emission on Queen' S Park Fourth Reading until in 1994. This year, Paikin starts Co-to animate the emission Studio 2 , initially at the sides of Mary Hynes, then of Paula Todd. In 1998 it becomes stimulating emission Diplomatic Immunity , an emission commenting on the foreign affairs.

During the Canadian federal election of 2006, Paikin is the regulator of the debate televised of the chiefs in English the January 9th 2006.

The June 29th 2006, TVO puts an end to Studio 2 and replaces it by a new emission, The Agenda , animated by Paikin alone and which began in waves in September 2006.

Documentary

In addition to its activities of organizer and journalistic, Paikin produced a certain number of documentary feature films: Balkan Madness (1992), Return to the Warsaw Ghetto (1993), has Hand Street Man (1996, a biography of Ontarian the Prime Minister Bill Davis), Teachers, Tories and Turmoil (1997, documentary on the reforms discussed in the education of the government of Mike Harris), and Chairman off the Board: The Life and Death off John Robarts (2001). In 1993, for Return to the Warsaw Ghetto , Paikin gains Silver Screen Award with the U.S. International Film and Video Festival; it also receives rewards in Yorkton Film Festival in Saskatchewan and with the Film festival of Shanghai in China.
