Steve Albini is a musician of Rock, principal member of the old group of Punk hardcore Big Black and current producing Shellac, critical musical and . Its inventiveness, its intransigence and its technique of the sound do of them one of the most interesting characters of the Rock independent of the end of the 20th century. Its musical influence extends from Nine Inch Nails to the many artists of which it produced albums, among which one can quote the Pixies, Nirvana, or PJ Harvey.

Steve Albini gives rise to Big black in 1982 with the album Lungs which it only records, by ensuring the Guitare, the low , and the management of the Boîte at rates/rhythms. This formation began in 1992 in Chicago. If the treated topics are in the same vein that with Big Black, the music is less hardcore and generally slower. Three albums were elaborate, like various participations in compilations until 2000, with the album 1000 Hurts . A fourth album entitled Excellent Italian Greyhound left in June 2007.
