Stevan Stojanović Mokranjac
Stevan Stojanović Mokranjac (in Serb Cyrillic СтеванСтојановићМокрањац, January 9th 1856 - 1914) is one of the type-setters and the pedagogs of Serb music most famous of the 19th century. Its work was essential by introducing the spirit of Serb folk poetries into the classic art.
Its life was strongly influenced by religious and popular songs, and it employed these two types of music like inspiration for its work. Its most famous parts are Rukoveti (literally: work of hand), collections of songs and music based on reasons for the folk music Bosnian, Serb, Macedonian and Bulgarian. Among the 15 Rukoveti , the n° 10 is regarded as most beautiful.
Several works were made up for services of church, like the splendid Liturgie , in which the song of Heruvian is most famous.
