Stern John

Stern John is a Football Trinidadian or born October 30th 1976 with Cane Farm. He currently plays Southampton Football Club at the post of center-forward.

In 1995, Stern John left his country to join Mercer County Community College, an American university . It began its professional path in 1998 with Columbus Crew in Major League Soccer. The club of Columbus (Ohio) tested Stern John following the councils of his cousin Ansil Elcock, him also in Colombus and international Trinidadian. With Colombus, Stern John proved to be one of the most prolific attackers in the history of the American league, finishing better striker of the MLS in 1998 with 26 goals. It was selected in the team-type of the MLS and repeated like better striker the following year (18 goals).

Its performances exceeded the Atlantique and it signed with Nottingham Forest in the second English division against £1,5 million. However, of the financial problems obliged the team to sell Stern John with Birmingham City in First League for the sum of £100 000, Stern John having marked 18 goals in 49 matches for Nottingham Forest. Birmingham, Stern John seldom played and was sold in Coventry in 2004.

For its first season with Coventry, Stern John finishes like second striker of the team, registering 12 goals although more often substitute than titular. At the beginning of the season 2005 - 2006, after the signature of James Scowcroft, John was apart from the plans of the trainer Micky Adams. Consequently, it was lent to Derby County the September 16th 2005, before joining Coventry later three months.

The January 29th 2007, Stern John was transferred to the Sunderland AFC, which made of him the sixth recruit of the trainer Roy Keane during the Mercato. It marked its first goals for Sunderland against Southend United (4-0) the February 17th 2007.

The August 29th 2007, John signed with Southampton within the framework of an exchange with its compatriot Kenwyne Jones. It registered its first goals at the time of a victory 3-2 against West Bromwich Albion, the October 6th 2007.

Stern John is a dominating player for the team of Trinity-and-Tobago since better striker of the history with 67 goals in 100 selections. It took part with its country in the World cup 2006.
