Their professional path really starts it in 1997, when Richard Branson (creative of Virgin) proposes to them to sign a contract for the new label which he has just created: V2 music .

Words Gets Around

Heading Word Gets Around, and left in 1997, the very first album of the Welsh trio is a true revelation, in particular in the United Kingdom. One discovers a group determined there to make sound the guitars, thanks to fronts envoûtants and which tries to mix Rock and Poetry with romantic texts straight left the feather of Kelly Jones whose railleuse voice does not leave indifferent. This single mixture does not pass unperceived to the eyes of the general public, and the group takes down in 1998 Brit Award in the category “better British hope” and their album becomes platinum disc in the United Kingdom (500 000 sales).

Performance And Cocktails

Two years later, extremely their success Stereophonics leave a second opus, Performance and Cocktails. This last proves as powerful as the precedent with pieces such as “The Bartender And The Thief” and allows them to confirm their talent. Moreover, they sign true chiefs of works with musics like “Just Looking” or “I Stopped To Fill My Because Up”. Their continuous popularity to increase in the United Kingdom but also in the rest of Europe. Just Enough Education To Perform

In April 2001 a new album a little more acoustic than the precedents is recorded. It is about Just Enough Education To Perform (J.E.E.P). There still the tubes are with return and some their musics, such as “Cuts has Nice Day” and “Mr.Writer” remain today still among most known of the group, in spite of having undergoes criticisms of the journalists and the media with their title Mr. Writer which denounces the behaviors of the latter.

You Gotta Go There To Like Back

2003 mark a turning for the group which leaves its fourth album named You Gotta Go There to Like Back. One discovers through this one a new facet of Stereophonics which delivers an album more mature to us than the precedents, as well on the level of the words as of the music. Indeed those are worked and thorough. They are distinguished many songs plus rock'n'roll from the beginnings. This album, is undoubtedly ended the most of all. One finds there songs such as Maybe Tomorrow which will be a very broad success.

At this same time the formation knows some problems and the beater of the group, Stuart Cable leaves the group. It will be replaced the time of a round by the old beater of the Black Crowes, Steve Gorman before the arrival of a novel member.

A New Beater

Little time after the end of this round (December 2004), Kelly and Richard decide to recruit a new beater, and they will choose for this station, Argentinian, Javier Weyler, which they had already had the occasion to meet little time before: " the group was in this club rock'n'roll, everyone took good time and the landlord invited us to one evening deprived in a house where musicians played on 3 stages. One knew already Javier of London where he worked in a studio of Fulham and attended the demonstrations of the album 'You Gotta Go There To Like Back'" (Kelly Jones).

Language. Sex. Violence. Other?

Again three, Stereophonics return to their roots and leave in 2005 Language. Sex. Violence. Other? . This last born gives access to them the top English charts in particular thanks to their tube Dakota . The world tour which will follow the exit of this album will be the occasion for the group to record their first album live “Live From Dakota”.

In same time, Kelly Jones finishes in March 2007 an album solo, entitled Only The Names Have Been Changed . One thus finds on this one only Kelly, accompanied by his guitars. The tracks of the disc carry all the first name of a girl, from where the name of the album.

Founded for 10 years in 2006, the group has decided to leave on this occasion CD live (Live From Dakota) as well as a DVD (Rewind) in April 2007. This last recalls their career through documentary of almost 100 minutes, with amongst other things of the interviews of Ron Wood (Rolling Stones), No5el Gallagher (Oasis (group)), Bono (U2), Tom Jones, The Black Crowes like more than two hours in concert of Stereophonics since 1997 with extracts of the acoustic round of Kelly Jones (2000).

Sweater The Pine

Left in October 2007, Sweater The Pine (literally: To draw the pin) is the sixth album studio of Stereophonics. The title has more direction when it is known that it comes from an expression which often Kelly Jones employed when it was younger. Indeed, " Sweater The Pin" had like significance: " Fact what you veux". First the individual resulting one from this last is " Bank Holiday Monday" and the second " It Means Nothing". Kelly Jones explains, that it has " writing the song in a hotel room in Germany. It was at the time when the attacks of July 7th, 2005 took place. It is not a song in connection with these attacks; it is rather on our way of realizing at which points our close relations are expensive to us in moments like that-là". Who says Album, known as very often turned, and this is why the group will start as from Next November a new round which will begin in the United Kingdom. Capitan Melao

Currently, the beater of Stereophonics Javier Weyler works on a very new project entitled Capitan Melao. This one enables him to propose all its talent since one practically finds it with all the orders (voice, guitar, battery, low…). In this album the songs are strongly inspired by the life of Javier. In short, " Capitan Melao with the seduction of Worked nova, the pain of the Bolero, the anger of the Rock'n'roll and the words of a discouraged poet always seeking the love, which it had then perdu" (Capitan Melao).
