Stephen Smale
Stephen Smale (born the July 15th 1930 with Flint in the Michigan) is a American Mathématicien , prize winner of the Médaille Fields in 1966, rewarded for its remarkable work in differential Topologie. Its reputation is due to a demonstration of the Conjecture of Poincaré for dimensions higher than 4; later, it generalized the ideas of this demonstration for the theorem of h-cobordism. Stephen Smale is also famous for the Inversion of the sphere.
In 1998, it draws up a list of 18 problems of Mathématiques to be solved for XXIe century. This list was elaborate in the spirit of the famous list of problems of Hilbert in 1900. In fact, the list of Smale includes some of the problems of Hilbert. Among the problems of Smale, one finds the Conjecture of Jacobi and the Hypothèse of Riemann, problems still irresolute currently.
